Timor and Sumatra coffee beans

To keep my coffee flowing, I got another two (2) packs of Bluenotes whole beans from Coffee Lab - Timor and Sumatra origins.

A pack of 250 grams serves me 27 cups.  As an addict, I'm enjoying about 9 cups a day.  Thus, a pack is good for 3 days only.

Collapsible travel cup

I traveled for three (3) days to Isabel, Leyte, where our plant is located.

Instead of bringing a breakable coffee cup or mug, I bought a Stojo cup from Coffee Lab for P850.  It's made of silicone.  It's available in different colors; and, I chose the green one.  It's collapsible and light weight, which makes it perfect for travel and enjoy drinking coffee.

Grinding my coffee

To serve a fresher coffee, one step is grind the beans right before brewing.

So, I bought a portable manually operated grinder.  The brand is Hario, which costs P1,720.  I got it from Coffee Lab at U. P. Town Center.

Brewing at home

I brew my coffee at home by pour over method using a Hario Cafeor Dripper!  It's a single serve filter.

Coffee and biscuits

Wifey bought a pail of assorted biscuits; and I brought some to the office for my snacks

At the office, while brewing my first cup, I thought it would good combined with the biscuits as early lighter breakfast.  And, it's good, all right!

Of course, a heavy breakfast will follow later.

Filtering my coffee

I just brew my coffee the simplest and cheapest way I knew using the pour over method.

To filter the ground beans, I'm using a single serve paper filter.  I'm getting this from Brillo Caffe Single Serve.  This is good even on fine grinds.

The filter can be washed and reused for up to 60 times or so.  So, I estimate a filter cost P20 each.  If I could reuse it 60 times, the cost per serve is P0.35 only.

My new source of coffee beans

I had been buying different brands of ground coffee beans from several supermarkets until I chanced upon this coffee store last month.  It's called Coffee Lab and located at the 2nd Floor of U. P. Town Center.

I was strolling inside the mall and spotted this store.  I approached to see what it offers.

It has whole beans from different origins, mostly, imported.  I was looking for ground beans since I had no grinder yet then.  It has none; but, if requested, the grinding is free.

I'm particularly interested on the Bluenotes brand, which has "100% Single Origin Roasted Arabica Coffee" from 28 origins.

It also sells other coffee products, coffee machines, and equipment.

I didn't buy coffee beans yet; as,  I still had supplies of ground beans good for a week or so.  On my next visit, I got a 500 ml pack of Benguet origin and had it ground.  I was also considering of getting a grinder and a dripper.

So far, I've already tried 5 of the origins (Benguet, Ethiopia, Kenya, Colombia Supremo, Papua New Guinea).  There are still 25 more to try.

By the way, the salesladies, Mina, Mona, and Dianne, are friendly and accommodating.

These are my two Omega travel tumblers, which I use for brewing my coffee.  The green one is in my office; while, the violet at home:

A piece cost P300 only.  The capacity is 400 ml, with a heat retention of 6 hours.  They are made of stainless steel with polypropylene cover.

I checked also the other brands, such as the Emsa, Tiger, and Zojirushi, with heat retention of 24 hours..  Better, all right; but, they cost more than a thousand bucks

For my purpose, the Omega tumblers can do the job.  This is where I measure and store the 200 ml hot water for a few moments before pouring over the coffee grounds.

My coffee mugs

Over the years, I've accumulated mugs and cups. They are gifts, giveaways, and prizes.

Among the mugs and cups, I selected these two mugs for my coffee drinking:

For office use

For home use

I'm a brewed coffee addict

I've loved the aroma and taste of a freshly brewed coffee and been addicted to it!

Before, I drank and didn't care whether it's instant or brewed as long as it's called coffee.

But, now, I mind.  And, I'm drinking freshly brewed coffee.

At home and in the office, I brew my coffee and drink it black.  Once in a while, I put cream for a taste variation.

In a coffee shop, I order  brewed coffee or, in some instance, cafe americano.  I rarely drink other types of coffee, like cappuccino and latte.

As an addict, I'm drinking 6 to 10 cups a day!  Nonetheless, I don't feel any negative effect of too much coffee, such as restlessness and sleep problem.  As a matter of fact, I drink a cup or two as nightcap.

By the way, yesterday, I consumed 8 cups.
